Endodontics
Endodontics is the general term for root canal treatments. Root canal treatment is often perceived as a painful procedure by many in the community. However, with local anesthesia, root canal treatment can be performed completely painlessly. Root canal treatment is decided when the vital part of the tooth, which contains nerves and blood vessels in the pulp, is affected and loses its vitality due to tooth decay or trauma. Even severely inflamed teeth can be treated with root canal therapy. Root canal treatment can be completed in one session, or depending on the condition of the tooth and the decision of the dentist, it may take several sessions. With root canal treatment, a tooth that has lost its vitality can be preserved in a healthy and painless way, maintaining its place in the mouth and performing its function.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that root canal treatment is the most detailed procedure in dentistry. Therefore, experience, attention, and technological equipment are essential for root canal treatment.
We can categorize conservative dental procedures under a few headings:
Posterior Aesthetic Fillings: Evaluated as 1-2-3 surface fillings based on the number of surfaces to be restored.
Anterior Aesthetic Fillings: Success is determined by their ability to match the color and light transmission properties of the tooth, especially in cases of decay or fractures in the anterior region.
Anterior Diastema Closure (Bonding):Closing natural gaps between anterior teeth for aesthetic purposes using composite filling materials.
Indirect Restoration: A special application, especially for teeth that have undergone root canal treatment or have extensive substance loss due to fractures. It involves preparing a restoration with a ceramic content of approximately 73% in a laboratory setting. In the second session, this restoration is firmly adhered to the tooth with a very strong adhesive. It is a secure method against issues commonly encountered in standard filling procedures, such as the filling falling out, breaking, or the tooth fracturing.
